The short answer
You do not need someone else to upload a slowed version. You can make one out of the normal song, in the tab where it is already playing.
Install Turn It Up, Son!, a free extension for Chrome that also runs in Edge and Brave. Open it on the tab with your song, open the mix panel, and pick the Slowed + Reverb preset. That preset pulls the speed down to 0.85x and pushes reverb up to 0.6, which is the sound you already recognise from those edits.
Nothing gets downloaded and nothing gets re-encoded. The audio of the tab is processed while it plays, so this works on a track you discovered five seconds ago, on a live stream, on a two hour mix, on anything.
What "slowed and reverb" actually is
Two separate things happening at the same time.
- Slowed means the player runs below normal speed. Around 0.85x is the sweet spot. The drums land later, the gaps get wider, and the whole track feels heavier and a bit sadder.
- Reverb adds a tail of reflections behind every sound, as if the song were being played in a big empty room instead of straight into your ears.
And the part people always ask about: why does the singer suddenly sound deeper? Because pitch follows tempo. When the playback slows down, every wave in the recording gets stretched with it, so every note drops in pitch too. It is the same physics as a record played at the wrong speed.
That deeper voice is not a side effect to be fixed. It is the core of the slowed sound. If you kept the pitch locked and only slowed the tempo, you would get something that sounds like slow motion, not like a slowed and reverb edit.
Step by step
- Install Turn It Up, Son! from the Chrome Web Store. It is free.
- Open the tab with your song and press play. YouTube, YouTube Music, SoundCloud, Twitch, Spotify, or any other tab that makes sound.
- Click the extension icon in the toolbar.
- Open the mix panel and choose Slowed + Reverb. There are ten presets in there, and this is the one you want.
- Grant the permission it asks for. Slowing the music means driving the page's own player, so the extension needs access to that one site. When you switch the effect off, the permission is handed straight back.
- If the slower version feels quiet, push the volume. Any tab can go up to 700%, and every tab keeps its own level. A built in limiter keeps it from crackling when you go high.
Build your own version with the full mixer
The preset is a starting point, not the ceiling. Flip the Full mixer switch and every slider appears: Speed from 0.5x to 1.6x, Reverb, Brightness, Muffle, Bass, Vocal, Power and Spin.
A recipe worth trying. Take the speed to somewhere between 0.80x and 0.85x, then decide by ear, because every song has its own limit before it turns into a puddle. Push reverb past 0.6 if you want a bigger room. Then add a little Muffle, which takes the top end off so it sounds like music heard through a wall. That "next room at a party" quality sits perfectly with slowed and reverb.
For the low end there are six bass flavors: Classic, Sub, Punch, Rumble, 808 and Warm. Sub gives you the deep floor under a slowed track, Warm keeps it rounder and softer.
When it sounds right, save the whole combination under your own name in Your mixes and load it on the next song instead of rebuilding it from scratch.
The honest limitations
Speed is the one effect with conditions attached. It works by slowing the page's own player, so the page has to actually have a video or audio player, and the extension needs permission for that site. No player on the page means no speed change.
Everything else is free of that. Reverb, muffle, bass, brightness, vocal and power run on any tab that produces sound, Spotify included, with no site permission involved.
One more thing to be clear about: this changes what you hear while it plays. It is a listening tool, not an exporter, so there is no file at the end of it.
On privacy there is nothing to explain away. Everything runs locally in your browser. No servers, no analytics, no accounts, no telemetry. Your presets and levels sit in the browser's local extension storage and are never synced anywhere.
Go slow one down right now
Pick the song you always wished had a slowed version, open it in a tab, and give it 0.85x with reverb on top. It takes longer to read this sentence than to do it.
